This depends on your environment. Intermedia allows you to index updated or new documents online - this is transparent to the user. The decision to reindex during the night or immediately after updating the database depends on the amount of data that changed. In some situation it is neccessary to reindex at once. Reindexing large amounts of data should be scheduled to out-of-business-hours - also because reindexing might take over your machine :-)
