This won't be much help, but I did see that behavior with Access and Oracle.

I don't remember what it was, but in our case, it was something harmless and forgettable. Have the Oracle DBA refresh the indexes on the table for starters. I'll see if I can find the Oracle guru who solved my problem and get back to the NG.
