Q: ODBC on UNIX recommendations?

I would like to build C/C++ programs which link against OBDC such that Sybase or Oracle can be substituted at run time. The target platforms are HP/UX, Solaris and Linux.
I am aware of the iODBC and unixODBC driver managers, but not of the availability, pricing and relative quality of the ODBC drivers themselves.
I am interested in other peoples experiences and recommendations in this area.
