Caching of Sequence Numbers.

When not setting the value of the sequence number cache, it defaults to 20. We noticed in operation that we were seeing "holes" in our sequence generated numbers. The holes would be about 20 numbers in size. The Oracle docs indicate that sysem failure will cause you to lose the cached values for sequence numbers. Is this also the case if you have a significant period of time between accesses to the sequence numbers that are cached? That is, will the sequence numbers be swapped out of cache?
