Oracle 8i and Oracle App Server

I am using Oracle 8i on NT. I have just installed the Application Server and it is up and running. However, when trying to install the demos and connect to the 8i database i get a java.SQLException which says: "no suitable driver"

Has anyone come across this problem? Is the message referring to an incompatible JDBC driver? Do I need a later version of the driver to connect to 8i?
