(Sorry to crosspost)

Hi,

Does anyone have experience of taking scanned files and inserting them into an Oracle database?

Basically, I want to streamline the process of scan capture, OCR operation, then insert into the database.

I would like to keep an open mind on the eventual scan format (so I need the OCR facility). I know of a product by Axis Communications which allows scanners to be connected directly to a server but the format of the scans (jpeg, gif, pdf - i.e. no OCR) seems to be insufficient for my needs.

Also, I basically want the users to be able to scan a document, perform minor OCR corrections, then press a button so that the document on the screen is inserted straight into the database.

Any ideas, any suggestions, or any experience?

Cheers,

Charlie.
