OO4O: SQL*net or Net8

Hello experts,

Why is it that my VB5-application (using Oracle Objects for OLE V2.3 to connect to a remote
Oracle 8.0.5 database) works fine when both Net8 and SQL*Net are installed on my Windows
NT 4.0 workstation, but *not* after Net8 was removed?!

When Net8 is not present run time-error 429 is raised (ActiveX component can't create object)
whilst trying to execute the following statement:

         Set OraSession = CreateObject("OracleInProcServer.XOraSession")

Furthermore, I noticed that during the installation of OO4O 2.3 (using the Oracle Installer app)
net8 was installed without asking...

The OO4O 2.3 Help-file - under the topic "Introduction/Requirements" - states that at run time
OO4O relies on SQL*Net 1.* or 2.* There's no mention of net8.

I'm puzzled here :-(
