I too am able to use 1.2 and access an Oracle 8 server, I'm not sure what the other poster meant by not having the Oracle classes in your classpath (does that mean not having classes111.zip in the classpath?). I made no changes to my code when I moved from 1.1.7 to 1.2, I still have classes111.zip in my classpath, and my app runs fine.
