Hi, I am trying setup Oracle8 for Linux by using the downloaded 805ship.tgz.

After gunzip and tar xvf, many dircectory created under /usr/local/oracle.
After something pre-config to those .profile etc., run orainst, everything seems fine but I don't know what is the Source Staging Area. I set both ORACLE_HOME and ORACLE_BASE to /usr/local/oracle. But the Source Staging Area doesn't allow me to use the same pathname. I read the documents under unixdoc but still don't know what I should input to it. My guess is it maybe for storing the gunzip directory on somewhere like /home/oracle/download/oracle/... to act as installing from CD-ROM and run the orainst from it to install to /usr/local/oracle. So that we need to specify /home/oracle/download/oracle to Source Staging Area. Because the documents state that we could install more than one times from there.

Any information to clear my concept would be much appreciated. Thanks,
