Does PRO*C work with gcc?

We are planning on installing Oracle8 under Solaris 2.5. The documentation says that for PRO*C, we need to have SUN's CC.

We don't have SUN's CC and we hope we wouldn't have to buy it. I was wondering if PRO*C works with gcc for Oracle8.

I haven't installed this yet to try it.

I am using gcc/g++ 2.8.1.
