Sorry, have to ask the obvious
You have installed the 16bit Oracle files and not the 32bit? (Fallen for that one myself).
Also, are you using the Ora73win.dll supplied by Oracle or Gupta. You should always use the one from Gupta as it will be the more likely to work.
Also, have you altered the oracle.ini file? When you upgrade to 7.3, you need to alter that and insert a line or two. Read the oracle.wri file supplied with 5.0.3. If it's not in there it'll be in one of the other write files supplied by Gupta.
Lastly, have you applied any patches to Gupta, or is it the base version. I think you need PTF2 onwards for correct compatability. Then again, I might be speaking Jack Sh?* on that point. I suggest you check the Centura site on www.centurasoft.com and check the latest patch info.
