:I'd like very much to read the Informix literature, and I thank you
:for providing these links. However, I don't think I have made any
:statements at all regarding how Informix XPS works, and therefore
:don't feel that I have spoken out of turn without having read the
:Informix literature.

Absolutly no critisism was intended. My only purpose was to make you aware of the information from Informix that shows how they have allready done things.

: My comments are coming from a more theoretical

:an MPP environment.

I just thought the Informix literatur might give you some additional hints.
To me it seems like they have done a very good job of getting both performance and possibly some ease of administration out of an MPP implementation of their database. When you have had a look it would be interesting to here any comments from you.

: I do not attempt to judge Informix's product
:because I don't know it well enough to do so. I judge MPP in general,
:and speculate on how a DBMS would deal with particularly difficult
:technical challenges that it would have to face in an MPP environment.
