Help: Two-task protocol error connecting to server

Hi Gurus,
I have created a database with multi-byte character set ( AL24UTFFSS ). When I try to connect to this database using sqlplus from the machine where the server is running, it works fine. When I try to connect to it from another client machine, it fails with the error :
ORA-03016 fatal two-task communication protocol error.
I'm working on SunOS 5.5.1
Oracle version 7.2.2.0 ( both Client/Server )
