                      APPLIED OBJECT TECHNOLOGY WORKSHOPS

The definition, specification, implementation and reuse of Business Objects will be
one of the most important practical problems over the next few years. The workshops below will bring together technologists from a wide range of business applications and
provide a forum for extended discussion of the issues and progress in this area.

On June 16 and 17, OOPSLA is sponsoring a unique new event that will consist
of two day workshops devoted to Applied Object Technology. These workshops will bring together practitioners to share experiences and issues in the implementation of real world object systems. There will be workshops in Telecommunications, Finance, Healthcare, Manufacturing, Realtime Systems, Insurance, and Object Models for Business Transaction Systems. The goal is to lay the foundation for future expanded meetings at OOPSLA and other vertical application based conferences. Descriptions of the workshops and details are at "http://www.amsinc.com/cjava/oopsla" or the OOPSLA97 home page "http://www.acm.org/sigplan/oopsla".

The workshops should be an extremely valuable for participants because of
the focus on real world applications and problems. The two day format will encourage detailed discussions and interactions. The proceedings of the Workshops will be made available on the Web and should provide a useful resource to the object community. Feel free to contact me or the Workshop organizers for more details. The location of the conference is the Danford's Inn at the harbor in Port Jefferson, Long Island. The DEADLINE for applying to attend is APRIL 1.
