I have had some experience writing C code with embedded SQL as a front end to an Oracle database. I used a library called sqlca.h. There is a lot of information regarding this in the Oracle book "Programmer's Guide to the Oracle Pro*C/C++ Precompiler (Release 2.1...is what I have).
