We have developed a Web solution using Oracle products and Windows NT.

Everything is working well right now and we have just started production, but there exists one huge problem for us. Using Microsoft Internet Explorer for Windows NT doesn't connect well to our Oracle Weblistener 2 using SSL.

We have not been able to find out the exact cause of IE's strange behaviour. What happens is:

We connect using https://... and everything works fine. But after maybe 20 minutes of browsing around our new website IE just refuses to connect. Up comes an alertbox with:

"Internet Explorer cannot open the internet site  https://... <correct URL>

 Cannot connect to server"

This happens mostly after temporary leaving our website and browsing around to some other address. And then on the first try back to our site the above mentioned problem appear. It also seems to be happening when you haven't used IE for a few minutes.

Could this be a bug in the way that IE handles SSL? Could the problem be with the Oracle Weblistener 2.0.1 for NT?

Netscape have not shown a single problem using our site. So it ought to be a fault in IE.

Please reply by mail to jacob_at_hamacher.pp.se as well as to proper newsgroup, cause my service provider has frequent problems with their newsfeed.
