I do have some 2.5 gig indexes and now that I think about it...I cannot build an initital extent greater than 2 gig. Actually I cannot even create one OF 2 gig. 1.96 is about the biggest. But if I had 4 - 500 meg datafiles, I could create a 1.5 gig initital extent, which spans multiple datafiles. I may have read the initial question wrong, but that was one of the questions...Can you span multiple datafiles.
