This was my first Oracle Open World, but certainly not my first conference.
I did not come away with an overwhelming sense of, "This was the greatest
thing ever." I really expected more. And I certainly didn't expect to be
refused seating in several sessions because they were already full. The
first session, I had to attend my 3rd choice because the first 2 were
already full.
One other session I attended turned out to have nothing to do with what I
thought the title indicated. This was one of the major errors of the
conference. We really needed to be given a better indication of what the
presentation was about. I echo what Larry said--Everything should've been
put in html and made accessible from those PCs they had sitting out there.
I also concur with the format of the CD. But the same problem was passed
down from the conference. Too commercial. I want information to do my job
better and to provide my customers with better access to their data. I
will be looking for more technical conferences in the future. (Goodness
knows, I've now got enough of those little blue stress balls to keep me
relaxed for years!)
There were some good presentations at the conference, and I thank the
presenters who took the time to put them together. But I'm not sure that
I'll be heading to Los Angeles next year.
