Oops !!

Who's been fiddling with the data files then ??

Oracle will only start a database instance if all the datafiles it had last time it was running are ALL present. The deletion of that datafile has corrupted the database. The database control files keep track of all the datafiles Oracle thinks it should have and if any are missing on startup, you get this type of message.

You may have to revert to your last complete backup - you do have one, don't you?

I would contact Oracle support for this - they could talk you through recreating your database without this datafile - but you'd lose all the data in any object which was stored in it.

Good luck,
