Drop Tablespace Question/Problem

I am on Oracle ver6, and I was recently trying to drop a tablespace to get
ready for a DB re-org.
The Tablespace has a total of 4 datafiles and takes up 863Mb.
I issued the drop tablespace including contents command, then waited. I
had done some smaller spaces prior to this that finished in 2-3 minutes.
This one, however had been going for over an hour, when I reached the
point having very little time left to get the DB up and running again.
SO, I broke out of the command. I had received NO ERROR messages prior to
breaking out.
Afterwards, when looking in my trc files, I noticed that ORA-700 error had
occured, during the drop command (Max number of row cache objects
exceded).
1. Is it normal for a drop tablespace on a 863 Mb space to take over an
hour?
2. Did I cause the ORA-700 error by breaking out, or was that the problem
all along
3. If that was the problem, what init.ora parameter needs to be changed,
and what do you suggest to.
Just looking for some ideas, any help would be appreciated.
