Hi there,

I'm a Data Administrator now for about half a year using D2000. I haven't managed to build a solid version/change control management system in my repository. I have been on a course 'Designer 2000 repository management' so I'm aware of the various methods (check-in/check-out, new version, unload/load, archive/restore, copy object, sharing, transfer ownership, etc. etc.).

For minor changes I'd like the functionality of check-in/check-out but without the hours of response times and regular crashes (version 1.2 Win3.11). I can't have all our developers checking in and out for over more than half their time (the meaning of D2000 was IMPROVING productivity, not DECREASING it). But the functionality (locking of an object, chaqnging it elsewhere untill you're ready, unlocking the object and immediately have your changes implemented) of check-in/check-out looks promising.

Since we have a lot of sharing amongst our application (allthough the shares are all implemented as API-functions and/or API-views) I can't create a new version of one application without creating dozens of dummy-applications that ruin my 'clean and tidy' repository.

So, if someone figured out a way to control both minor as well as major releases, PLEASE LET ME KNOW (my boss is getting on my back why the productivity of the developers is so low and why I haven't figured out a rudimentory change management methodology).

Thanks!
