HI ALL
I appologise for sending this to the wrong newsgroup, I'm not sure which newsgroup to post this to.

The first questions is : What is the difference between RAID5 and Disk Mirror and what is the pro's and con's between the two ?????

The second question : I am in the middle of planning a network which must provide min. downtime and we're planning to use COMPAQ ProLiant5000 Server with NT v4.0 and a Back up server with the same spec. Oracle 7.2 will be the database running on this system. The server will have 2 x 200Mhz processors with 256/128MB of RAM. Initially we will need to support a pilot group of 10 users using windows '95 clients. It will grow to around 100 users over the next 12/18 months with image processing as well.

We are trying to decide whether to use Disk Mirroring or RAID5 or BOTH. We are planning to have external storage unit as well which will provide the RAID5 support on each server and then disk mirroring between the RAID5. Can anyone give me some ideas on the best approach and any problem that they can see ????

Thanks in Advance

David Cheung
