What if the index would normally have created extents in an otherwise empty tablespace? Wouldn't the extents be contiguous anyway? I thought multiple extents typically don't degrade performance unless full table scans are employed or the extents are so numerous that the table header blocks are getting full. If I'm off base, please flame, because I'm getting into multi-gig tables and indexes and I won't know the capacities beforehand. Received on Wed Oct 02 1996 - 00:00:00 CEST
