good OCI for C refference

Hi I am a new programer to oracle's oci stuff. Can any one point me to a good book or some other reference material? The only documentation I have been able to find is the

/opt/oracle/app/oracle/doc/product/language/common/73/oci73.odb stuff. It is not very good. There does not seem to any kind of index, or even a complete discription of the functions. ie what the various arguments to the functions are
