There is a new feature in the 7.3 manuals which describes automatic selection of degree of parallelism based on the smaller of the number of CPU and the number of devices over which the object is spread.

I havent' yet investigated this, but I would be interested to know how a 'device' is recognised - and how many devices a 5-disk raid 5 array is deemed to be.

Anyone done any investigation on this ?
