Oracle Motif Apps don't work

I've installed Oracle 7.3.2 on an SGI Challenge L running Irix 5.3, and have been running into some problems including the inability to run either the motif based install or server manager.

The error I get seems to be some kind of a TK/TCL message:

TK2-04097: Oracle Toolkit II's connection to the window system was refused
