Hi folks!

Can any kind soul through some light on the OPS(Oracle Parallel server 7.3) with TRU-CLUSTER in Digital UNIX environment.?

The oracle install manual talks about setting up one 'drd (distributed raw device) service' to hold couple of datafiles and control files. For testing purpose, well I set up a 'drd service' on a 4 gig (rz32h) (on common SCSI bus). The DRD device file is /dev/rdrd/drd001. since oracle datafiles and redo log needs to be on drd's. how can I pack, say couple of datafiles on the same DRD device file '/dev/rdrd/drd001' since the underlying physical disk partitions(rz32a..h) can no longer be used(?). The raw deivces need to be accesed by /dev/../drd001 for failover.

AmI missing some *imp* point ?

does that mean, for every database file and redo log files, I have to create a 'drd service' and hence # of files = # disks ?

any input on this will be greatly appreciated.

I am working with oracle support on this issue. well they are still working on it for a correct answer ;-)

If you need more info on the setup, please email me at 'jithu_at_ctsinc.net'

not to mention, I will share the feedback and thoughts with the net community.

Thank Q
