About your expandability... I take it you're not using some sort of volume manager to span stuff logically on your RAID cards? I'm not sure (may be new may be fantasy) but call your rep. I believe my guy told me that I could tell the RAID manager that any disk on any RAID controller was addable to the expansion on the fly using the volume manager. Again, out of my experience, as I just got our Alpha up a couple months back and haven't expanded squat yet.

But what I'm asking is, can you not just drop in the drive hot (our shelves do that) and add the disk to the set? Supposedly I don't even need to down the system...

Good advice, nonetheless, since most systems aren't that flexible.
