The middleware SQL~Surfer is a generic gateway between WEB and RDBMS (native access to DB2, Informix, Oracle, SQL Server, Sybase - ODBC access to others) on Unix and NT to any WEB browser and via any Internet Server. It transparently supports HTML 2, HTML 3, JAVA, Javascript, VRML, ....
It is a powerful RAD tool which simplifies the devlopment of real and full transactional Client/Server applications on the WEB (transaction management, cursor management, user context management, stored procedures, complex requests, conditional statements, ...) and takes advantage of the wide WEB capabilities to supply attractive and practical Client screen (HTML 3 tables, Java classes, VRML, master/detail within frames, ...).

Building applications with SQL~Surfer only consists of writing templates which can be used on any hardware platform to access any relational database. A template is a page model which contains, beyond classic HTML tags, SQL database dynamic accesses defined using SQL_at_Way language.

Moreover, A set of JAVA classes uses the SQL~Surfer gateway to dynamically access databases.

The scalable architecture of SQL~Surfer reduces database access time and network traffic. It allows a large number of WEB clients to share permanent connections to database. So, it is possible to insure high performance, even on small hardware platforms.
