Yep, "2:" usually works. With Delphi, though, I had to use the "Easy SQL*NET Configuration" and create a TCP/IP ALIAS. Then had to:

  1. Tell Delphi the right DLL to use (BDE Config)
  2. Tell Delphi about about my TCP/IP ALIAS (don't remember more - abandoned Delphi!)

The Oracle Readme for PO7 '95 indicates the TCP/IP connection might fail the first time. Second time works though. This was my experience. Everything else loves "2:", but Delphi? Nooooooooo........

All experience here 32-bit.
