ORACLE*FORMS and stored functions

Could somebody reply to my modest question: I have a function created from SQL*PLUS. I use this function normally from PROC*C applications. I tried to call this function from a procedure created in forms 4.5. I get back an error saying that the function cannot be used in SQL. The function is not a member of a package.

Is something that I can do about it:-))))))
