Are you using the TCP/IP ping, or the SQL*Net ping?

What software are you using on the OS/2 machine? Native OS/2 or Windows? If Windows, have you loaded SQL*Net for OS/2 and SQL*VDM? (Do *not* load SQL*Net for Windows on an OS/2 PC).

Have you checked the SQL*Net configuration files. The ones for OS/2 must include the ADDRESS parameter. This is not necessary on a Windows PC.
