The docs indicate that DB_WRITERS set greater than 1 causes Oracle to proc
child writer processes. I am running a Sun Sparc20 with 4 processors using Oracle 7.3.2,
have set DB_WRITERS to 4 and bounced the instance. I checked the DB_WRITER count
via svrmgr once the db was restarted and found it to be 4, however a ps of the current processes
revealed just the single DBWR-- no writer child processes (eg. db002...). Is this unsupported under
UNIX (solaris 2.4), which seems unlikely, or are these child processes launched as needed?
Any experience with this?
