Is it possible that you are being limited by the speedof your SQL*net connection? I use the DB2 transparent gateway( which uses an oracle7 instance) on MVS connected to an Oracle7 Instance on a Solaris bax via SQLNet2. Without a doubt the slowest piece is the SQLnet. We've monitored it with a sniffer and discovered that data transfet involves many small messages bracketting a maximum 2k packet. We haven't found any way (yet) to improve on this.
