PL/SQL random() function?

Hi.  It appears to me that PL/SQL does not provide any kind of 
'random' function.  This being the case, does anyone have any ideas on 
how a random function could possibly be written in PL/SQL?  I've thought 
about possibly generating just a table full of random integers and 
having the random function reference this table to get its random 
numbers.  Any thoughts or comments would be greatly appreciated.
