Once we were having problem between client v2.2 and server v2.0. The advice we got from Oracle Network support that a sqlnet v2.x should be able to talk to v2.x+1 or v2.x-1 ie v2.2 should be able to talk to v2.1 and v2.3. We have servers 7.1, 7.2 and 7.3 and therefore we have sqlnet v2.2 on the client.
