Looking thru the script mentioned in this (or a similar) thread, I noticed one of the "general rules" of the author was to "never cd to a directory in a script."
Why not? (besides cd'ing to the wrong directory)
I do it so when I run TAR I can have a relative path name and then not have to restore the files to their original location.
