This is what happens when the application is not a TRUE fully integrated SQL-RDBMS. The result is an implementation nightmare...these applications can only be 'rigged' and 'tweaked' so much. IMHO, the Texis RDBMS is the smartest of the bunch. The new version has a 32-bit ODBC and has direct import for .pdf and .dbf file formats; ALL features are contained in a single application. None of this: "oh, well that's extra," etc.

Check out Texis, http://www.thunderstone.com . All the technical specifications, faq's, and anything else Thunderstone felt their customers needed to know you'll find on their website.
