I can tell you based on experience talking to Oracle support that Oracle will not even admit that any object stored in the system tablespace can be modified at all without causing dire consequences to your database.

Based on a test system you can rebuild some objects safely in restricted mode, but I think you would be better off to add a second data set to the system tablespace before touching a dictionary object. You may run into a situation where you need Oracle support and if you have messed with system you won't get it if support discovers the fact. Received on Thu Jun 13 1996 - 00:00:00 CEST
