Set Confine option off (shortcut button with the icon of a latch on it), select and drag the object out of the enclosing object.

If the object you want to move is a field then you will probably get an error that the field appears in the groupt at the wrong frequency. For example, if you have one level of repeating frame enclosure (report with no breaks) and take any field out of the repeating frame, then the field will be at the outer (report) level, which means that possibly different values of this field will be printed in the same position in the page.

To avoid this you have to create a new group (in data model), which will have its own repeating frame outside of the frame you want to take the field out of.

I have not figured out an easy way of manipulating the placing of these repeating frames on the page other than using Default Layout tool. The Additional Default Layout tool may be helpful to interposition repeating frames on the page.

Sometimes there is a problem like "frame1 intersects but does not enclose frame2", but on your layout you clearly see that frame1 encloses frame2. The real cause is that frame1 is "above" frame2, i.e., if you try to select frame2 in your layout, you would not be able to do it, but parents can not be above children, so you have to either send the parent back or bring the child to front.

To avoid this -- either create enclosing objects before the enclosed ones -- then the former automatically become parents of the latter and everything is fine, or use "Bring/Send fo Front/Back" tools to move objects vertically. Received on Thu Jun 06 1996 - 00:00:00 CEST
