I am not a Parallel Server type, but if standard Oracle commands work on it, I do have a great shell script that does a good job of backing up to tape or disk. You can either wait for the July issue of SysAdmin magazine, or if you're really interested, I can post it.
It supports:
Raw Devices
Compression
Concurrency (more than one datafile at a time)
Tape or Disk
Automation
