I do not have much experience with VB but I can give you some of the points that I think make Oracle Power Objects very powerful.

  • It is database aware. It handles DB record locking automatically without extra coding. Also popup lists, forms, and repeater lists can be linked to tables with almost no coding.
  • It runs on both Mac and PC.
  • It has object oriented features. It has inheritence, polymorphism, encapsulation, etc. Therefore I only need to write objects once and I can reuse them. For example, I have Save and Cancel button classes. I just place these classes on a form and they do exactly what they are suppose to do. No extra coding. Another example would be an address class. I just place it on a form or report, link it to a master record and it will query the database for the address for that record.
  • It is easy to learn. I have worked with other object oriented programs that were hard to train people to use. I do not have that problem with this product.
