If this is a new installation then I would install and configure SQL*Net v2 . SQL*Net v1 will no longer be available as of 7.3 and is currently not being supported. However, you can safely install both SQL*Net v1 and v2 on the same machine as long as you select the adapters that you have the prereqs for (i.e. TCP/IP). Good Luck,
