Why did Oracle installation hang?

Hi there.

Yesterday I started installing Oracle Workgroup Server 7.1 to our NW 4.1 server.

I mounted the CD and then I loaded the install program. I then chose the "install unlisted.." or some such option. Then I got a message that the install program will not respond as it has transferred the command to some other program (I assume it means the Oracle installation program). However, nothing happened...:(

The installation just hang. I couldn't stop it or even kill the installation program... So I ended up downing the whole server.

But what is so critical in installing the Oracle? I didn't check if our NLM's dates matched the ones mentioned in the Oracle papers but I have upgraded our stuff to the latest versions, so I assume they should have been correct ones...

Any ideas would be helpful.

Peace,

  • Petri -
