Visual Basic does in fact talk to ODBC, which talks to SQL*Net, which
connects to the Oracle Server. Currently we are unaware of a 32-bit
SQL*Net driver, so using this scenario you are still stuck with
16-bit drivers, even if you are running windows 95 or windows NT on
the client. We know of one alternative to ODBC, called "Oracle
Objects for OLE", which is an OLE-based native oracle connection.
You can get a trial version from Oracle. We are testing the two
options, ODBC and Oracle Objects for OLE, and currently like the OLE
objects better (seems more reliable).
