Import problem

I am using Oracle v. 7.1.3.2.0

I export a table to a dmp file on a vax server. I need to send this dmp file to another person.

I can import the table using the original dmp file. But, if I try to copy the dmp file (i.e. to another file server or to add as an attachment for email) I get the following import error:

        IMP:00009 Abnormal end of import file

        Import terminated successfully with warnings.

(The table structure is imported but no rows).

I have also tried using uuencode to move the dmp file then decode it at its destination. I get the same error.
