Last time this came up, I suggested that rather than splitting the group, we need people to volunteer to maintain and regularly post FAQ's for the various topics rather than split the group. That way, someone could find the answer to their question by scaning the FAQ.

I say reduce the traffic by reducing the number of "duplicated" threds!
