False. Delphi uses a middleware layer called the BDE (Borland Database Engine). This in turn uses a Borland proprietry driver for the various back end databases that it supports. In the case of the link to Oracle, the driver talks to SQLNet.

It all works very nicely. The SQLNet part is important. There is no point in Borland trying to replace SQLNet as they would be continually updating their replacement to keep up with changes that Oracle makes.

BTW, the ODBC drivers also talk to SQLNt, not directly onto the transport.
