You really shouldn't denigrate that which you're completely ignorant of. The military prepares you for a hell of a lot more than college does. Sure, a college graduate may have a head start at the beginning of their career, but what about the phase you all too quickly reach...

        ...the *rest* of your career?

There's a lot to be said for the maturity and discipline that you walk away with after a tour of duty. Hell, I even remember a time when military experience was of more value than a college degree.

Guess that kind of dates me though. Maybe you should poll some of the managers you work with, the one's in the late 30's to early 50's. I bet you'd be quite surprized at how many of them had their start in the military...
