The best way to do this is to create a profile at the database that checks for idle time. I usually look for about 15min idle time. This should do the trick. Now, I head that SQL*Net v2 can somehow do keep-alives and monitor itself, however, I have not been able to make this happen myself. We will be moving to Oracle 7.2 in about a month and installing SQL*Net v2.2. I will post any results I may find
